Part-time Pastoral Minister I:   (20 hours per week)

The Pastoral Minister I is responsible for a narrow scope of pastoral duties under the direction of the Pastor, pastoral associate, or other pastoral staff members.  The position has limited program responsibility and decision-making authority, being responsible for specific pastoral duties such as visitation to the sick or parish outreach.  Experience in parish ministry is helpful as is a willingness to further education through workshops, courses, etc.  Hourly Rate is $18 – $22.00 per hour. 

The Pastoral Minister is expected to:   

  1. Provide a listening ministry of care and support.
  2. Collaborate with the pastor and staff in implementing the mission of the parish.
  3. Manage the pastoral needs and pastoral visits for the homebound, hospitalized, and nursing homes.
  4. Schedule routine communion visits or word prayer services at various local nursing homes
  5. Assist in the training of volunteers who visit the home-bound and/or nursing home residents.
  6. Coordinate and keep lists of lay persons involved in the ministry, including Communion calls to the homebound.
  7. Bring prayer requests, Sacrament requests, visit requests to the attention of the Clergy.
  1. Ministry to the Bereaved
    1. Provide pastoral support to grieving families (phone call, visit, etc.).
    2. Help Coordinate the annual Mass of Remembrance in December, and the Anointing of the Sick Mass (February and October)
  2. Administration
    1. Manages and assists pastoral ministry volunteers for the completion of the safe environment training.
    2. Attends scheduled meetings when appropriate, including twice-monthly staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
      Pastoral Care Ministry experience is helpful
      Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.
      Interacts and communicates well with others.
      Proficient in written and computer skills.
      Able to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities.
      Strong organizational skills
      Proficient in Microsoft office and computer programs and applications as needed.
      Willingness to further pastoral ministry understanding through workshops, courses, etc.
